Area arrests

• Alejandro Avila, 32, 105 Courras St., Cartersville, was placed on hold Wednesday at the Whitfield County jail for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

• Christopher Jerrid Byers, 21, 4787 Tibbs Bridge Road, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with first degree burglary and misdemeanor probation violation.

• Miguel Cabanas, 33, 1325 Carbille Road, Cartersville, was placed on hold Wednesday at the Whitfield County jail for ICE.

• Corey Lebron Hargis, 25, 162 Lillian Drive, Rossville, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with aggravated assault (other weapon), terroristic threats and acts and battery (family violence, first offense).

• Gregory Lee Ratcliff, 42, 3583 S. Dug Gap Road, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of meth to distribute, possession of meth and possession of tools for the commission of crime (burglary).

• Jeremy Philip Summers, 30, 1947 Freeport Road, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with DUI, failure to maintain, improper stopping or parking on roadway and reckless driving.

• Joshua Adam Barnes, 20, 299 Springplace Smyrna Road, Chatsworth, was charged Thursday by the Chatsworth Police Department with underage consumption, DUI (drugs/alcohol refusal), failure to drive within a single lane and two counts of probation violation.

• Roberto Cervantez, 28, 918 Old Dalton Ellijay Road-12, Chatsworth, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with felony probation violation, failure to appear and giving a false name, address or date of birth to a law officer.

• Daniel Richard Dorsey, 65, 805 Clark St., Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI, operating a vehicle without a proper tag or decal and failure to maintain lane.

• Christopher Charles Miller, 35, 138-A Bowen Road S., Chatsworth, was charged Thursday by the Chatsworth Police Department with possession of meth, driving while license is suspended or revoked and a tail lights violation.

• Cory Matthew Morgan, 18, 746 Lot S Bishop Pond Road, Chatsworth, was charged Thursday by the Chatsworth Police Department with possession of meth.

  • Police: Gun fired, man arrested following dispute on Morris Street (Updated 12:20 p.m.)

    A man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after firing a gun following a dispute at A-1 Towing at 1502 E. Morris St. in Dalton this morning, police said.

  • Bond hearings canceled for two charged in murder case

    Bond hearings for Fernando Resendiz and Jovencio Vega-Garcia, charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with the fatal shooting of a security guard at Las Delicias on Morris Street in Dalton, have been canceled.

  • Suspect Photo 2.jpg DPD seeks identity of credit card theft suspects

    The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects who used a stolen credit card on March 31 to make purchases at two locations in Dalton. One of the suspects was captured on surveillance video at a gas station and the second suspect was described to investigators by witnesses.
