Area arrests

• William Lynn Fortner, 29, 1175 Sky View Drive, No. 16, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Georgia State Patrol with DUI, seat belt violation, driving too fast for conditions and failure to stop at a stop sign.

• Luis Herrera, 27, 1168 Boy Scout Road, Hixson, Tenn., was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with DUI, a headlight violation and driving without a valid license.

• Raul Armondo Moreno-Pina, 55, 529 Martha Sue Drive, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with DUI and failure to register a vehicle.

• Amie Renee Patterson, 35, 512 Moria Noel Drive, Resaca, was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of meth.

• Saul Acosta-Gonzalez, 36, 6530 Hillandale Drive, Norcross, was charged Sunday by the Georgia State Patrol with DUI, speeding, failure to maintain lane and driving without a valid license.

• Evirerto Garcia-Tapia, 20, 827 Heritage Circle, Dalton, was charged Sunday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI and possession of alcohol by a minor.

• Luis Juan, 19, 1806 Glenbrook Place, Dalton, was charged Sunday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI and failure to yield in an intersection.

• Sonia Carolina Peinado, 22, 1376 Valley Way, Tunnel Hill, was charged Sunday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI and open container of alcohol.

• Nicolas Simon-Gonzalez, 35, 521 Benton St., Dalton, was charged Sunday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with DUI, driving without a valid license, improper U-turn and failure to obey a person directing traffic.

• Gerald Curtis Williams, 62, 5277 Apison Road, Cohutta, was charged Sunday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with DUI, failure to maintain lane and open container of alcohol.

  • Suspect in custody, will be taken to hospital for evaluation (Updated 9:35 p.m.)

    A man who reportedly barricaded himself on the second floor of a two-story building at 1029 S. Hamilton St. in Dalton, believed to have been armed, is now in custody and is on his way to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.
