Area arrests

• Elizabeth Brooke Daniels, 20, 274 Brandon Circle, Chatsworth, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of a schedule 4 drug.

• Derrick Lee Demease, 35, 14 Harris St.-6, Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of marijuana and possession and use of drug-related objects.

• Lowell Everett Dickinson, 59, 614 Bryan St.-B, Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with first-degree forgery and making a false statement to or concealing facts from the government.

• Christopher Macellaro, 35, 340 Leyland Way-E, Rocky Face, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with aggravated assault and cruelty to a child.

• Timothy Brian Meador, 51, 7201 E. Brainerd Road-D2, Chattanooga, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI, no proof of insurance and failure to maintain lane.

• Lester Anthony Roper, 50, 224 Witherow Road, Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with giving a false statement to or concealing facts from the government and possession of drug-related objects.

• Joshua Neil Tharp, 30, 4156 Highway 225 N.-80, Chatsworth, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of drug-related objects.

• Raquel Hernandez, 28, 320 Florence Ave., Dalton, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI, following too closely and willful obstruction of law officers.

• Nikolaus James Von Thaden, 27, 652 Babb Road, Rocky Face, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with sale or intent to sell marijuana and use of communication facilities in drug transactions.

  • Suspect in custody, will be taken to hospital for evaluation (Updated 9:35 p.m.)

    A man who reportedly barricaded himself on the second floor of a two-story building at 1029 S. Hamilton St. in Dalton, believed to have been armed, is now in custody and is on his way to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.
