Area arrests

• Jesse Thomas Baker, 21, no address listed, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with burglary in the first (forced entry into a dwelling) and criminal trespassing resulting in damages of $500 or less.

• Kasey Alaina Curtis, 31, 2341 Highway 52 Alternate, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with burglary in the first.

• Randall Lewis Klippert, 34, 2352 Highway 52 Alternate, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with burglary in the first.

• Kathleen Meyers, 54, 608 Daffit Road, Crandall, was charged Friday by Georgia State Patrol with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and DUI.

• Christina Nicole Murrelle, 32, 604 Douthitt Road, Crandall, was charged Friday by Georgia State Patrol with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

• Shawn Anthony Tackett, 19, 2113 Mulberry Lane, Tunnel Hill, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with possession and use of a drug-related object.

• Michael Scott Templeton, 19, 120 Sharondale Drive, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with failure to appear (two counts), possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and bondsman off bond.

• Curtis Lamar Betterton, 31, 2463 Greeson Road, Chatsworth, was charged Saturday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with probation violation, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, purchase, possession or control of meth and possession of tools for the commission of crime.

• Aaron Scott Cooley, 23, 119 S. Lakeshore Drive, Tunnel Hill, was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with aggravated assault with a weapon, terroristic threats and acts (two counts), probation violation felony and willful obstruction of law officers.

• Teresa Joy Martin, 45, 79 Nassau Circle, Chatsworth, was charged Saturday by the Chatsworth Police Department with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

• Brian Keith Smith, 38, 502 Charger St., Chatsworth, was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with failure to appear and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

• Tonya Michelle Spurlock, 28, 10844 Highway 225 North, Crandall, was charged Saturday by the Chatsworth Police Department with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

  • Suspect in custody, will be taken to hospital for evaluation (Updated 9:35 p.m.)

    A man who reportedly barricaded himself on the second floor of a two-story building at 1029 S. Hamilton St. in Dalton, believed to have been armed, is now in custody and is on his way to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.
