Area arrests

• Omar Jamal Awad, 25, 618 Fifth Ave., Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with influencing a witness.

• Bobbie Jo King, 25, 1350 People St., Cleveland, Tenn., was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with entering an automobile with intent to commit theft or felony and loitering on school premises or a school safety zone.

• John Payne, 33, 815 Aster Wood, Rossville, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of meth and possession of a schedule 4 drug.

• Jesse Allen Peeples, 22, 457 McEntire Road, Chatsworth, was charged Thursday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with DUI and failure to drive within a single lane.

• Emmanuel Rico-Nunez, 22, 117 Altamont Ave., Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with sale of or intent to sell marijuana.

• Jennifer Renee Ridley, 28, 1453 Kendall Road, Rocky Face, was  charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with theft by taking, fourth-degree forgery and identity theft/possessing ID information concerning a person.

• Bruce Whitten, 26, 1204 Davis Drive, Cleveland, Tenn., was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with entering an automobile with intent to commit theft or felony and loitering on school premises or a school safety zone.

• John Willard Baldwin, 53, 2366 Old Federal Road N., Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with reckless conduct.

• Rex Alan Jones, 47, 2157 Vinewood Drive, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI, no headlights when required and failure to maintain lane.

• Erick Gabriel Langley, 21, 1933 Upper Ridge Road, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

• Stephen Kyle Lay, 25, 104 White St., Calhoun, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of meth.

• John Thomas Schlicht, 28, 1013 Park Canyon Drive, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI.

  • Police: Gun fired, man arrested following dispute on Morris Street (Updated 12:20 p.m.)

    A man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after firing a gun following a dispute at A-1 Towing at 1502 E. Morris St. in Dalton this morning, police said.

  • Bond hearings canceled for two charged in murder case

    Bond hearings for Fernando Resendiz and Jovencio Vega-Garcia, charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with the fatal shooting of a security guard at Las Delicias on Morris Street in Dalton, have been canceled.

  • Suspect Photo 2.jpg DPD seeks identity of credit card theft suspects

    The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects who used a stolen credit card on March 31 to make purchases at two locations in Dalton. One of the suspects was captured on surveillance video at a gas station and the second suspect was described to investigators by witnesses.
