DPD investigates entering auto case

Editor's note: The individuals shown in these surveillance photos have been ruled out as suspects in this case.

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help with identifying two suspects in the theft of several items from a car parked at an area business in March.

The suspects were recorded on surveillance video using a bank card stolen in the incident to rack up more than $80 in purchases shortly after the theft occurred.

The victim reported to police that her unlocked car was entered in the parking lot of New York Pizza at 101 E. Walnut Ave. on the evening of March 5. Taken from the car were her brown Relic purse and Relic pocketbook, among other items. When she contacted her bank to cancel her cards, she was told they’d already been used at the Kangaroo convenience store on East Walnut Avenue. Investigators retrieved surveillance video from the store and saw two males wearing backwards baseball caps using the card to make purchases.

Anyone with information on this incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to please contact Detective Brian Shirley at (706) 278-9085, ext. 189.
