Area arrests

• Linda Sue Brown, 63, 396 Foothill Drive, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Georgia State Patrol with DUI, seat belt violation and failure to maintain lane.

• Melissa Sue Ensley, 33, 2866 Old Federal Road, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with terroristic threats and acts.

• Richard Todd Hemphill, 55, 149 Hemphill Road, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI, habitual violator, no insurance and use of license plate to conceal ID of vehicle.

• Ashley Brooke Lewis, 26, 509 Mariah Noel Drive, Resaca, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with felony theft by shoplifting.

• Daniel Willis Tarvin, 31, 25 Tarvin Road, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with probation violation/parole violation.

• Ronald Lee Wages, 36, 212 Brandon Circle, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Eton Police Department with DUI-drugs and failure to maintain lane.

• Curtis Lamar Betterton, 29, 2463 Greeson Road, Chatsworth, was charged Saturday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with a child support violation and probation violation (violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act).

• Kandi Renai Coran, 31, 1090 Mount Carmel Road, Chatsworth, was charged Saturday by the Chatsworth Police Department with probation violation (possession of methamphetamine).

• Zachariah Elijah Laboo, 32, 256 Bailey Ave., Chattanooga, was charged Saturday by the Georgia State Patrol with possession of a schedule 1 drug, crossing guard line with drugs without consent, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, giving false information, use of license plate to conceal ID of vehicle, taillights violation and driving while license suspended or revoked.

• Katherine Anne Pedro-Torres, 22, 1203 N. Townsend Lane, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with simple battery against law enforcement personnel and felony willful obstruction of an officer by threat or violence.

• Don Bruce Poteet Jr., 38, 3228 River Road, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of meth, failure to appear and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

• Robin Lynn Rhodes, 25, 171 Maurine St., Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with battery, purchase or possession of any controlled substance in schedule 3, 4 or 5, willful obstruction of law officers, criminal attempt to commit a felony and child support arrest order.

  • Suspect in custody, will be taken to hospital for evaluation (Updated 9:35 p.m.)

    A man who reportedly barricaded himself on the second floor of a two-story building at 1029 S. Hamilton St. in Dalton, believed to have been armed, is now in custody and is on his way to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.
