Prep roundup: Murray runners leads pack at state
Murray County’s boys cross country team was the best in two different categories among local high school teams Saturday at the state meets at Carrollton High School.
The Indians had the best overall team score and the best individual finish.
Best Cats in the region
Their star tailback got hurt. They didn’t play their best defensive game of the year. They committed far too many penalties.
But the Dalton Catamounts got the win. And the trophy.
Region title, state dreams
Over the past four seasons, Dalton High School and Gilmer have struck up a nice rivalry as tonight’s meeting between the two football teams will be the sixth in the last four seasons.

Friday Night Rewind: No points, all treats
Heading into this week’s Region 7-4A championship game with Gilmer High School, the Dalton’s football team’s defense is playing with peak efficiency, and it was on full display Friday night at Harmon Field as the Catamounts throttled Southeast Whitfield 42-0.
It was the third shutout in the last four games for Dalton and the fifth of the season.
