Prep football: Playoff possibilities aplenty
Thanks to a little help last week, Southeast Whitfield can still take a straightforward path to the high school football state playoffs.
But to travel that road, the Raiders first must move a Big Red bulldozer out of the way.
Southeast takes on Dalton tonight at Harmon Field in a Sub-region 7B-4A matchup that won’t affect the host Catamounts (6-2, 4-0) in the postseason picture but will have plenty of implications for the Raiders (4-4, 2-2).

Southeast freshmen football closes year with rout
Southeast Whitfield High School’s freshman football team closed its season with a 45-0 win against visiting Murray County on Monday.
Less than a minute went by in Friday’s Sub-region 7B-4A high school football matchup between Northwest Whitfield and Southeast Whitfield at Raider Stadium before Northwest’s defense started causing problems for the home team.
Consider the possibilities
A win tonight rewards Northwest Whitfield High School’s football team with a meaningful 10th game.
For Southeast Whitfield, the ceiling is much higher, but the risk is much greater.
