Jamie Jones: End of the road here for TWA

After more than 20 years of delivering dropkicks, punches and family wrestling action, TWA is closing its doors tonight.

The Whitfield County wrestling organization will have its final show at 8 p.m. at the TWA Arena off Reed Road in north Whit-field County, about three miles north of the bypass. Promoter Doug Watkins cited health and financial issues as reasons for shutting down TWA. Last year, Watkins was diagnosed with cancer.

TWA officials are expecting a packed house tonight, with several wrestlers from the past attending.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for ages 6 to 12; senior citizens 60 and older with proof of age will be admitted for $3. Kids younger than 6 will be admitted free. Any military member with proper identification will be admitted free. If it’s your birthday, you will be admitted free.

The Local Corner: Renegade Championship Wrestling is at 8 p.m. Saturdays at 806 Second Ave. in Chatsworth.

Trivia Teaser: WCW wrestler Dave Sullivan referred to himself by this name.

Check back next week for the answer.

Last week’s question: Name the 12 wrestlers who appeared in the first WCW wrestling Nintendo game released in 1990.

Ric Flair, Eddie Gilbert, Michael Hayes, Lex Luger, Road Warrior Animal, Road Warrior Hawk, Mike Rotunda, Ricky Steamboat, Rick Steiner, Sting, Kevin Sullivan and Steve Williams.
