Column: Nick Hogan gets eight months in jail

By Jamie Jones

Here are the news and notes from around the wrestling world:

• Maybe Hogan doesn’t know best. Nicholas Bollea (better known as Nick Hogan, the son of former WWE star Hulk Hogan) was sentenced last week to eight months in jail after pleading no contest to felony reckless driving. Last year, Bollea crashed his car in Clearwater, Fla., leaving his friend John Graziano critically injured.

Bollea was also given five years probation; his driver’s license was suspended for three years; and he is not allowed to drink alcohol for five years.

Nick’s sister, singer Brooke Hogan, posted an emotional rambling on her MySpace page last week defending her brother. She quickly pulled the posting, but not before the media jumped all over it. Brooke said that many lies were told during the trial: “And it wasn’t from us.”

She also shed light onto the perceived reality of the family’s VH-1 reality show “Hogan Knows Best.” (Pardon her grammatical errors).

“And by the way, before you judge anybody, make sure you really know them. I promise you if you were to meet my brother he would give you the shirt off his back. He’s not ‘NICK HOGAN.’ AND he’s not the person he plays on tv. People are so gullible now a days ...”

So reality television is a fraud. Who would have known?

The public will now be able to see how authentic Brooke is in her upcoming reality show spinoff “Brooke Hogan Knows Best.”

• Despite the flopping of “The Marine,” John Cena’s movie “12 Rounds” is slated to hit theaters in March 2009. Once again, the release is conveniently a few weeks before Wrestlemania 25.

• The Great Khali could be the largest movie star in the history of Hollywood. The WWE giant will appear in the Indian Bollywood film “Ramma The Savior” and will also be along Steve Carell (“The Office”) in this summer’s remake of “Get Smart.”
