— Dalton State College announced the signing of tennis star David Draghiceanu to the school’s growing program, which is set to begin play next fall.

Tennis coaches Michel Bates and Zach Rogers announced on Friday the Woodstock High School senior joined the program. Draghiceanu has been playing in USTA tournaments since age 9 and has consistently maintained a top 20 ranking in Georgia.

The newest Roadrunner was named the Cherokee Ledger News’ 2012 Co-Player of the Year. He shared that honor with his doubles teammate, Josh Bertram.

“I look forward to watching David’s career flourish over the next four years here at Dalton State,” Bates said in a press release. “I feel certain he will make a great contribution right off the bat.”

Rogers echoed the sentiment, saying, “David is an extremely talented young man who will bring a lot of energy to the team.”

Draghiceanu says he is looking forward to joining his new teammates in building a highly competitive tennis program.
