Run back for concert downtown

Get ready to rock with the Austin, Texas-based band Fastball at the Saturday night concert following the Dalton Red Carpet Half Marathon/ 5K/2K races and the Liberty Tree Festival in downtown Dalton.

The concert, sponsored by OptiLink, provides a perfect way to wind up the weekend’s special events, said Lori McDaniel, Dalton Utilities spokeswoman. OptiLink from Dalton Utilities is the local provider of telephone, television and Internet services.

“We are looking forward to a great day for all the participating runners, as well as the food, music, games and family activities with the Liberty Tree Festival,” McDaniel said. “We encourage everyone to bring nonperishable food items for donation to the Miles for Meals food drive, which will help restock the community food pantry at City of Refuge, a local nonprofit service organization.”

The Fastball concert begins at 7 p.m. on the main stage on King and Selvidge streets, with the band playing from its broad catalog of hits, including “The Way” and its current chart tune, “Love Comes in Waves.” General admission tickets are $5, with free admission for children under 12.
