Engineered Floors wins Whitfield Education Foundation tourney

The 20th annual Whitfield Education Foundation Golf Tournament was held April 28 at Dalton Golf and Country Club.

In the first flight, the Engineered Floors LLC team of James Breeden, Matt Bailey, Keith Dixon and Beau Bray finished first ahead of Card-Monroe Corp. (Jamison Dukes, Charles Finnell, Jerry Hendricks and Ronnie Hicks) and Mattex USA (Reed Harmon, Barclay Payne, Andy White and Steve White).

In the second flight, the Tyson Griffin Team of Griffin, Dave Grusnick, Chase Jones and Chris Woods took first ahead of Windstream (Billy Barton, Greg Bryant, Dennis Carney and Benny Middleton) and FSG (Brian Anderson, Kevin Brunson, Kenny Gowin and Gary Middleton).

In closest to the pin competition, there were three winners.

Woods won on both the sixth and 16th holes, picking up two prizes — a dozen golf balls and a $50 gift certificate to the country club’s pro shop. Michael Bailey was the winner on the ninth hole and received $50 gift certificate to the pro shop, while Keith Hayes won a dozen golf balls for being closest on the 14th hole.

Funds raised at the tournament will support innovative teaching grants in Whitfield County Schools. Prior to this year’s tournament, more than $429,000 had been awarded to teachers by the Whitfield Education Foundation.

Co-presenting sponsors for the tournament were Mohawk Industries and Windstream Communica-tions, while James W. Buck-ley and Associates sponsored lunch, M.B. Kahn sponsored the hospitality cart and Pye Kia was the tournament’s hole-in-one sponsor.

Hole sponsors were: Dr. Billy Barton, D.M.D., Bonar, Inc., Caylor Industrial Sales, Columbia Recycling Corp., Tom Dickson State Repre-sentative, Dudley Asset Man-agement, First Bank of Dal-ton, First National Com-munity Bank, Gowin Mach-inery, Heritage Pallets, Lyle Industries, Maryville Jewel-ers, Textile Rubber and Chemical and Ken White. The WEF offered special thanks to Dalton Box, Card-Monroe Corp and Walmart for their contributions.
