Pittman, Reece picked for softball all-region first team

North Murray sophomore third baseman Megan Pittman and Coahulla Creek junior center fielder Haley Reece were chosen by coaches to the All-Region 5-3A softball first team.

Pittman was one of the region’s offensive leaders, batting .479 with six doubles, a homer, 12 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Reece was solid at the plate with a .303 average and 18 runs scored, but she was most impressive on defense, going the entire season without committing an error.

North Murray catcher Kara Deal and Coahulla Creek catcher Emily Banks were named to the second team.

Region champion Ringgold’s Brittany Portwood claimed Pitcher of the Year honors and Ericka Bynum was Offensive Player of the Year. Sonoraville’s Eady Beth Connally was the Defensive Player of the Year.
