Weather wipes out rest of schedule

The Dalton High School basketball games Tuesday against Ridgeland were called off, as was the wrestling tri-meet at Ringgold involving Coahulla Creek and Southeast Whitfield. No makeup dates are scheduled.

However, some of the games supposed to be played Tuesday have new dates.

Dalton’s girls were scheduled to play at 6 p.m., with the boys following.

Dalton coach Mike Duffie said Ridgeland called off the game because of the cold weather. The temperature was in the teens at about 7:30 p.m.

The Sub-region 7B-4A matchups were the last of Tuesday’s postponements due to weather.

Dalton athletic director Jeff McKinney told The Daily Citizen on Monday there was a chance Walker County Schools could tell Ridgeland it couldn’t travel to Dalton for the game.

Among other basketball games called off on Monday were: Christian Heritage girls at Murray County, Adairsville at Coahulla Creek, Ringgold at North Murray, Heritage-Catoosa at Northwest Whitfield, Southeast Whitfield at LaFayette and Morris Innovative boys at Murray County.

Dalton’s swimming meet at Baylor in Chattanooga also was called off.

The basketball game between Christian Heritage girls and Murray County has been moved to today at 4:30 p.m.

The Murray County boys will host Morris Innovative following the girls contest at 6:30.

Coahulla Creek will host Adairsville Saturday, Jan. 18, with the varsity girls starting at 3 p.m. and boys following.

North Murray hosts Ringgold on Saturday, Jan. 25, with the varsity girls starting at 3 p.m. and boys following. Northwest Whitfield hosts Heritage on Feb. 1 with the varsity girls beginning at 2 p.m. and boys following.

On the wrestling mats, Murray County also was scheduled to travel to Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe. No makeup date has been set.
