Area middle school roundup: Valley Point soccer wins pair of matches

— Valley Point Middle School swept boys and girls soccer competition Monday against visiting Bagley.

In the Lady Green Waves’ 2-1 win, Angeles Altimirano and Claudia Ortiz each scored a goal for Valley Point (2-1-1, 1-1-1 North Georgia Middle School Athletic League).

In the Green Waves’ 2-0 win, Christopher Guijon and Arnold Ruiz each scored for Valley Point (3-1, 3-0), while Diego Landeros chipped in with an assist.

Bagley did not report statistics from the matches.



Softball

Christian Heritage 11, Chattanooga Christian 2: The Lady Lions scored nine runs in the first inning in the road win, which was shortened to five innings by the run rule.

Hadley Young’s three extra-base hits led Christian Heritage, and she combined with Hannah Heath, Halle Poteet and Abbey Souther for eight hits and as many RBIs.
