Weather forces sports changes (Updated at 3 p.m.)

Some games postponed, others to be played earlier

From Staff Reports

— The expectation of hazardous wintry weather across Northwest Georgia has had an effect on area sports.

Christian Heritage and Dalton will play their basketball games tonight, but Dalton's home contests with Ridgeland have been moved up and no junior varsity game will be played, Dalton athletic director Ron Ward said.

The Lady Catamounts will begin at 5 p.m. with the boys game at 6:30. Christian Heritage's games at Trion will be played tonight as scheduled, with girls at 6 and boys at 7:30.

Basketball games for Whitfield County and Murray County schools have been postponed. North Murray's games at Coahulla Creek have been rescheduled for Saturday, North Murray athletic director Roger Rainey said. Junior varsity competition at 1:30 p.m. will be followed by the girls varsity game at 3 p.m. and boys at 4:30.

In other scheduled varsity basketball, Murray County's games at Coosa, Southeast Whitfield's games at LaFayette and Heritage-Catoosa's games at Northwest Whitfield have all been postponed. Athletic officials at those schools said they were attempting to reschedule, but did not have definitive plans as of Friday morning.

In wrestling, Dalton's dual at Gordon Lee has been canceled, while Pickens' Burnt Mountain Classic — which Northwest Whitfield was scheduled to take part in —  is also off.
