Isaiah Mack, the Northwest Whitfield High School football team’s standout defensive tackle, committed this afternoon to the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
Hughes finishes up at Q School
Dalton’s Matt Hughes shot a final round of 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday and finished at 6-over-par 483 in the six-round Web.com Tour qualifying tournament at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.
Dalton’s realigned region realigned again
After initially proposing a Class 5A region with 17 schools, the Georgia High School Association’s reclassification committee met Tuesday in Thomaston and redrew regions, sending ripples across the state in the association’s second-largest class.
Dalton is the only school in Murray or Whitfield counties that will compete in Class 5A for the GHSA’s next two-year cycle, so the Catamounts are the only local athletic program that will feel the tremors with a major shift from the original regions released by the GHSA on Dec. 3.
