The Dalton Middle School baseball team pushed its record to 11-0 on the year with a 5-2 win over Ocoee (Tenn.) Middle at AT&T Field in Chattanooga on Saturday.
Tucker Sumner was the winning pitcher, striking out four in two innings work. He allowed one hit and one unearned run. Vinny Vega worked two scoreless innings, and Brock Nelson struck out three in the fifth and allowed one unearned run.
Maddux Houghton had a timely bases loaded double to drive in three runs in the second inning, while J.P. Tighe also had a double, and Harrison Norman added two singles.
• New Hope 6, North Whitfield 5: Trent Collins had a pair of solo homers, but it wasn’t enough for the Pioneers. Hunter Cohan and Ethan Whaley also homered and Landon Eaton. New Hope’s statistics were previously reported.
• North Whitfield 8, New Hope 7: Hayden Lock had three hits and drove in a run for the Pioneers, while Hunter Cronan had three hits including a home run and four RBIs. Spencer Hawkins pitched 6 1/3 innings for the win, and Eli Turso got the final two outs for the save. New Hope’s statistics were previously reported.
