Gibbs leads way for Bruins cross country

— Henson Gibbs finished 15th overall with a time of 18 minutes, 15 seconds to lead Northwest Whitfield High School’s cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the Powerade Invitational at the Moccasin Bend race course in Chattanooga on Saturday morning.

Chattanooga’s Baylor won the team title at the 5K with 34 points, while Northwest finished with 138. Other scorers for the Bruins were Dylan Richards (28th, 19:20), Kyle Roberts (31st, 19:29), Brandon Bolino (32nd, 19:37) and Lane Bramblett (53rd, 20:49).

The Lady Bruins were seventh overall, led by Ashley Sweeney’s 39th-place finish in a time of 25:13. Jen Riviera (49th, 26:38), Dala Hufstetler (53rd, 27:05), Caroline Duffy (54th, 27:14) and Tilea West (59th, 27:44) also scored.
