Middle school roundup: New Hope softball in postseason

Peyton Tudor went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and Kylie Caylor made big contributions pitching and hitting to lead New Hope Middle School’s softball team to a pivotal 14-3 win against Gladden this past Thursday in Chatsworth.

Caylor earned the complete-game victory in the circle in addition to going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, while Ashley Johnston was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Molley Middleton was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Sydney Horne doubled and drove in two runs.

New Hope (10-7) clinched a spot in the North Georgia Middle School Athletic League playoffs with the victory.

Golf

• Bagley’s girls and West-side’s boys came out on top in nine-hole matches Tuesday at Tunnel Hill Golf Course.

In the girls match, Bagley’s Savanah Satterfield shot a 38 to earn medalist honors and lead the Lady Braves to a 145-174 victory.

Shelby Satterfield (48) and Caroline Ridley (59) also scored for Bagley, while Sarah Plemons (59) and Kristen Gibson (61) also participated.

Westside’s team score was compiled by Makenzie Mitchell (55), Lily Adams (59) and Abby Canady (60). Abbey McKinney (60), Alexis Hewitt (62) and Erin King (63) also competed for the Lady Rockets.

In the boys match, Westside’s Carson Frye shot a 52 to earn medalist honors and lead the Rockets to a 230-231 victory.

Chase Carter (57), Dylan Cable (60) and Dylan Chastain (61) also scored for Westside, while Billy Robinson (62) and Kenny Johnson (63) also participated.

Bagley’s score was compiled by Braxton Bates (55), Jake Keener (55), Jonathon Crow (60) and Austin Billingsley (61). Kade Greeson (62) also played for the Braves.

Area middle school results are published on Mondays and Thursdays in The Daily Citizen. Coaches should send information to sports@daltoncitizen.com, with the final score, outstanding performers, team’s win-loss record and date and location of the competition included in the report. Reports on events that take place on Monday and Tuesday must be received by noon Wednesday for publication; reports on events that take place on Wednesday, Thurs-day, Friday or Saturday must be received by noon Sunday for publication. Events reported after the deadline or without complete information may not be published.
