Area middle school roundup: Braves share scoring load in blowout victory

Waylyn James’ 13-point effort led all scorers and boosted Bagley’s seventh-grade boys basketball team to a 55-15 victory against Eastbrook on Monday in Chatsworth.

Ten players scored for the Braves (4-3), with Jordan Pacheco chipping in nine points, Braedon Bond finishing with eight and Cole Cash having six.

Eastbrook’s statistics were not reported.

Bagley seventh girls 29, Eastbrook 18: Savannah Satterfield scored a game-high 12 points to pace the Lady Braves (4-3) in Monday’s road win, while August Miles added six for Bagley, which led 17-7 at halftime and 29-11 going into the final period.

New Hope seventh girls 24, Valley Point eighth 19: Maggie Linder had six points, as many rebounds and three steals to lead the Lady Kodiaks on Tuesday.

The game was part of the opening round of action in a five-day tournament hosted by Southeast Whitfield that features 14 area boys and girls teams.

Ivy Harwood added 10 rebounds, four points and a pair of steals for New Hope, which stayed perfect through 10 games, while MaLane Kyer had eight steals, four rebounds and two assists, Rylee Maret had eight rebounds and Holly Heath had six steals.

Valley Points’s statistics were not reported.

New Hope seventh girls 54, North Whitfield 21: Heath led the scoring for New Hope in Monday’s league victory at North Whitfield, finishing with 18 points, while Kyer added 14 points, five steals and five assists.

Linder and Harwood each added eight points, Maret grabbed seven rebounds and Julia Fish had seven steals.

Dalton seventh boys 48, Baylor 46: The Cougars trailed until the fourth quarter, during which they outscored the host Red Raiders 16-8 to pick up the win Friday in Chattanooga. JP Tighe and Harrison Norman each scored 16 points to lead Dalton (2-6).

New Hope eighth girls 32, Valley Point seventh 3: The Lady Kodiaks spread their scoring around during Tuesday’s opening-round victory in tournament play at Southeast.

Bria Clemmons and Robin Bryant each had eight points to lead New Hope, which remained undefeated through 11 games, while Gabby Wright and Kylee Ward each added seven points.

Valley Point’s statistics were not reported.

Clemmons got in on the thievery — she had a team-best 11 steals — while Hailey Ogle was tough on the glass, finishing with seven rebounds.

Bagley eighth boys 52, Eastbrook 23: Brody Frazier topped the score sheet with 18 points to lead the host Braves (3-4) in Monday’s victory.

Ethan Payne added 11 points for Bagley, while Trey Jackson had eight, Blake Davis had seven and Andrew McNabb had six.

Key scored 11 and Crumbley finished with nine for Bagley (4-3). Eastbrook’s Sarah Sullivan led all scorers with 13 points, while Jennifer Flores added six.

Eastbrook eighth girls 32, Gladden 6: Flores finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Mustangs (2-2) to victory last Thursday, while Sullivan also had 16 points as well as eight assists.

Baylor eighth girls 29, Dalton 21: Bowen Land scored 11 points to lead Dalton (7-7) during Friday’s loss in Chattanooga.
