Olivia Idom had the lone goal as Christian Heritage’s middle school girls soccer team beat Gladden 1-0 on Monday.
Idom’s score was assisted by Katy Stafford — who narrowly missed scoring earlier in the match when her attempt hit the crossbar — and Lexie Gowin was in goal to record the shutout, her first of the season.
• Dalton 7, Boyd-Buchanan (Chattanooga) 0: Caleb Ramsey went 3-for-4 — he was a home run short of the cycle — and J.P. Tighe added a double and a triple as the Cougars (7-1-1) collected 10 hits in Monday’s victory at home.
Zach Lance pitched three innings to earn the win.
• New Hope 29, Eastbrook 7: The Kodiaks (4-5) piled up the hits and runs to win this past Thursday in a North Georgia Middle School Athletic League matchup played at Southeast Whitfield High School.
Chris Cunningham led the way, going 5-for-5 with six RBIs, while David Ramirez was 4-for-4 with seven RBIs and Sebastian Orozco was 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Other notable hitters for New Hope were Eli Nance (3-for-6, two RBIs), Jack Brock (2-for-3, RBI), Mickey McNair (2-for-4, four RBIs), Chase Sornson (2-for-4, three RBIs), Jacob Sangster (2-for-5, three RBIs) and Seth Henderson (2-for-5, RBI).
Cunningham was also the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs while walking two and striking out one in four innings.
