Roadrunners add transfer to roster

Submitted by Dalton State College

— Dalton State College tennis coaches Michel Bates and Zach Rogers have been making connections with local coaches and players as they recruit for their first team, but they have also been reaching out to international players.

The latest example in the latter case is signee Diana Narino, a native of Bogotá, Colombia, who comes to the Roadrunners most recently from Reinhardt University in Waleska.

“Tennis is my passion,” Narino said. “I’m sure it is going to be a great experience full of challenges on and off the court.”

Both Roadrunners coaches had good things to say about Narino, who signed during a recent visit to the Dalton State campus.

“Diana is a nice young lady,” said Bates. “She will be an asset to this program from day one.”

Rogers said Narino’s experience at Reinhardt — she played both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Lady Eagles — will be of great value.

“Bringing in a player like Diana, with proven college match experience, is invaluable to our program,” he said.

The new Dalton State athletic program, which will begin competition next school year, has been accepted to play in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. That membership becomes official Aug. 1, and the school is searching for a conference home.
