Volleyball

• Northwest downed Murray County 25-20, 25-5 in a non-area match and then defeated Area 7-4A foe Ridgeland, 23-25, 25-23, 25-15.

Whitley Brooker finished with 32 assists and four aces for the Lady Bruins (17-12, 3-2). Mary Kate Allen had 20 kills, six aces and three blocks. McKinley Hopkins had 12 kills, six aces and two blocks. Peyton Maret had eight aces and seven kills, plus a block.

“We stepped it up on our serving game tonight,” Northwest coach Jennifer Quinn said. “We had 25 aces for the night.”

Murray County lost 25-12, 25-18 to Ridgeland. Alex Johnson had 10 assists for the Lady Indians (3-14). Tiffany Markey had 10 digs, Jenna Stanley had eight aces and Kathryn Hill had eight aces.

• Southeast Whitfield earned a split in two Area 7-4A matches, beating Gilmer 25-22, 25-19 but falling to Heritage 25-16, 27-25.

Melisa Fraire had 15 digs for the Lady Raiders (16-8, 3-2). Yasmeen Paloblanco finished with 22 digs. Angie Purkey had 34 assists and 13 digs. Wendy Perez finished with 10 kills. Gaby Gonzalez added eight kills. Yolanda Melgarejo had seven kills. Serena Ramsey had 13 kills. Tania Lopez finished with 19 digs.

• Coahulla Creek earned a split in a pair of Area 5-3A matches, beating North Murray 27-25, 25-12 and dropping a match to Ringgold 23-25, 25-16, 25-12. Gabrielle Henderson led the Lady Colts (9-20, 3-4) with 13 kills, seven digs and three aces. Taylor Ogle had 19 assists and four aces, and Nikki Ross finished with nine kills, a block and four aces.

• Christian Heritage lost a pair of matches to Walker-Marietta, 25-16, 25-18, and Darlington, 25-13, 25-23. The Lady Lions fall to 13-8 overall and 2-2 in Area 4-A. Only the loss against Walker was a league match. Christian Heritage community coach Lisa Donahue did not report any individual statistics.

• Northwest’s junior varsity team dropped a pair of matches at home, falling 25-19, 25-16 to Murray County and 25-5, 25-12 to Ridgeland. Hannah Jackson had four aces to lead the Lady Bruins (14-8).

• Dalton and North Murray did not report results and statistics from their scheduled matches.
