Dalton State runners compete at West Ga.

CARROLLTON — The Dalton State College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the University of West Georgia Invitational.

The men’s team finished fourth in the 10-team 8K run with a score of 72. Union University won with 43 points, Valdosta State (55) finished second and Clayton State (59) finished third. Paul Patterson finished sixth with a time of 26 minutes, 56 seconds for Dalton State, which also received scoring runs from Isaac Pacheco (13th, 27:35), Brody Cook (16th, 27:46), Parker Cook (19th, 28:06) and Raphael Pacheco (21st, 28:25).

The Lady Roadrunners finished sixth in an eight-team field with a score of 178. The team’s top runner in previous meets, Natalie Espinoza-Hensley, was injured and didn’t compete. Clayton State won the 5K race with 46 points.

Nayeli Jacobo finished 22nd with a time of 20:52 for Dalton State, which also received scoring runs from Julie Parham (34th, 21:56), Mikayla Moran (47th, 23:04), Maggie Kalafut (48th, 23:30) and Jasmin Sanchez (49th, 24:13).
