Belting out the wins: Dyer hangs on to title

Dustin “D-Train” Dyer of North Georgia Hayastan Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Dalton successfully defended his heavyweight championship Saturday at Ninja Fighting Challenge 4 in Bristol, Va.

Dyer defeated Jeremiah Harper, of Bristol, by technical knockout in 27 seconds. It was Dyer’s first defense of his Ninja Fighting Challenge belt. Dyer, who improved to 8-2 in MMA bouts, is also the Valor Champ-ionship Kickboxing super heavyweight champion. Harper fell to 5-3-1 in MMA competition.

Also competing for North Georgia Hayastan in one of Saturday’s 11 matches at the event was Jeremiah Morgan (2-2), who lost to Steve Thomas (6-4) in the Ninja Fighting Challenge light heavyweight title bout. The title was vacant before the bout.
