Middle school roundup: New Hope hoops teams sweep through four games

New Hope Middle School’s seventh-grade and eighth-grade girls went 4-for-4 this week against Eastbrook and Gladden.

New Hope’s seventh-graders won twice, beating Eastbrook 36-0 on Wednesday and then defeating Gladden 43-12 on Thursday to improve to 9-3 this season.

Alaina Thompson scored 12 points Wednesday and Olivia Jones and Sydney Horne each added seven for New Hope, which saw Jones and Horne score 11 Thursday with Thompson adding seven and Destiny Bravo chipping in six.

Eastbrook and Gladden coaches did not report individual statistics by The Daily Citizen’s deadline.

New Hope’s eighth-grade girls also won twice, beating Eastbrook 37-8 and Gladden 47-32 to stay undefeated through 13 games. Maggie Linder scored nine points and Hallie Brooker, Holly Heath and Rylee Maret each scored eight on Wednesday for New Hope. Heath had 18 points, Maret added 12 and Linder helped with nine on Thursday.

Dalton eighth-grade boys 42, Chattanooga Christian 28: J.P. Tighe and Izzy Carballea each scored 13 points Thursday at home as Dalton improved to 6-8 overall.

Chattanooga Christian seventh-grade boys 38, Dalton 31: Jamal Macon scored 12 points Thursday at home, but Dalton lost and fell to 2-8.

• Dalton’s seventh-grade girls won twice this week, beating Chattanooga Christian 39-1 on Thursday at home and then Gladden 40-17 on Friday to finish the season 10-1. Lauren Parker’s 16 points and McCall Maret’s 14 points were Dalton’s two double-digit efforts in the first game, and Parker scored 12 points and McCord Land added 10 on Friday.

Dalton eighth-grade girls 32, Chattanooga Christian 23: Precious Sims scored nine points Thursday at home and helped Dalton improve to 6-7 this season.

• Eastbrook’s seventh-grade boys split a pair of games, losing 28-10 versus New Hope on Wednesday and beating Valley Point 22-14 on Thursday. Denzel Allen scored five points for the Mustangs in the loss and Ivan Ramirez’s 10 points and Kolby McDermmott’s nine points led the team in the win. Eastbrook is 7-4 overall and 6-4 in league play.

• Eastbrook’s eighth-grade boys lost a pair of games, falling 27-8 against New Hope on Wednesday and 46-13 against Valley Point on Thursday. Alex Carroll scored five points against New Hope and then Ravaldo Sandate’s five points and Jarrod Wright’s three points led the Mustangs in Thursday’s defeat. Eastbrook is 0-11 this year and 0-10 in league play.
