— Chatsworth’s Sue King lost an extra-holes battle with Ellen Connors of Sharpsburg in the first-flight semifinals of the Georgia Senior Women’s Match Play Championship on Tuesday at Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton.

King, the bracket’s fourth seed, won the opening hole and held an edge over top-seeded Connors for the first seven holes — she went 2 up twice — but Connor won the eighth and ninth holes to enter the back nine 1 up. The two halved the 10th and 11th holes before King won No. 12 to return the match to all square, where it stayed for the next two holes.

Connors responded on No. 15, winning the hole to go 1 up, which is how the match stayed until King answered by winning the 18th to force another hole. The 19th hole was halved, but Connors won the 20th to eliminate King from championship contention.

Connors will face Karen Stewart of Columbus — she beat Canton’s Kathy Gross, 1 up, in the other semifinal — in today’s first flight championship match.

In the fourth flight consolation bracket, Cohutta’s Ysleta Morgan lost to Newnan’s Bunny Guy, 1 up, in the semifinals.
