Area middle school roundup: Lions churn out runs on diamond


Dalton girls 86, LaFayette 109: Katelyn Skiffen’s 39 earned medalist honors and led the Lady Cougars at LaFayette Golf Course on Monday, while Fromm (47) also scored for Dalton.

• Carter Pendley shot a 37 to lead Dalton’s boys and won a playoff with LaFayette’s Gage Smith in a nine-hole match Monday at LaFayette Golf Course.

The Cougars finished second with a 167 to LaFayette’s 160, while North Cobb Christian (174) and Christian Heritage (186) also competed.

The four low individual rounds count toward a team’s score. Jackson Quarles and Davis Smith each shot a 43 for Dalton, while Alex Kerr and Tal Martin each had a 44, although only one counted toward the team tally.

Christian Heritage’s counting rounds came from Chapman Painter (45), Levi Jolly (46), Hardin Chambliss (47) and Will Hooper (48).


Eastbrook girls 5, Christian Heritage 0: Ester Paniagua scored twice and Betsy Santos had two assists as the Lady Mustangs (7-2-1) rolled on Monday.

Saira Carillo, Ebony McDermott and Yajaira Ramirez each added a goal, and Lesley Valdez had an assist, while Ally Chavez and Itzel Rodriguez shared time in goal, with Rodriguez making two saves.

Bryannie Canacho, Michelle Hernandez, Eva Nunez and Jazmin Ortiz played well on defense.

Area middle school results are published on Mondays and Thursdays in The Daily Citizen. Coaches should send information to with the final score, outstanding performers, team’s overall win-loss record and league win-loss record (if applicable), and date and location of the competition included in the report.
