No contest: Area sports for Monday called off

All area varsity high school events scheduled for Monday were called off due to inclement weather.

In baseball, the following games were postponed: North Murray at Pepperell and King’s Ridge Christian at Christian Heritage. North Murray’s game will be played at 1 p.m. Saturday, while Christian Heritage’s game has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. on April 13.

Additionally, Coahulla Creek was scheduled to face Baylor, but that game will not be made up.

In golf, Dalton and Murray County’s boys teams were scheduled to play at Nob North in Cohutta, while Heritage-Catoosa’s girls were scheduled to face North Murray at Indian Trace in Chatsworth. No makeup date has been determined for either of those matches.

In soccer, Christian Heritage’s boys were scheduled to face Marietta’s Walker. No makeup date has been determined.

In tennis, the following boys and girls matchups were postponed: Murray County at Armuchee and North Murray at Sonoraville. Murray County’s matches will be played at 4 p.m. Wednesday. No makeup date has been determined for North Murray’s matches.

Also scheduled for Monday in tennis was Dalton at Notre Dame in Chattanooga. Those matches will not be made up.

When local prep athletic events are canceled, postponed or rescheduled for any reason, coaches are urged to notify the paper in advance of the originally scheduled time by calling (706) 272-7742, 272-7732 or 272-7734. Notifications may also be sent to sports@daltoncitizen.com.

n Coahulla Creek boys soccer team finished second at this past weekend’s Walker County Invitational.

The Colts beat Ridgeland 5-0 on Friday; on Saturday, they beat Oglethorpe County 6-0 and tied Heritage, 1-1. That gave Coahulla Creek 14 points in the tournament’s scoring system. Cedartown won the boys tournament title with 18 points.

The points were not available when Coahulla Creek initially reported results.

Coahulla Creek’s girls, who picked up their first win of the season at the tourney, finished with three points and were eighth out of nine teams.
