Area middle school roundup: Pioneers baseball unbeaten in league

Strong pitching helped lead North Whitfield Middle School’s baseball to a 5-2 win this past Thursday at Valley Point as the Pioneers improved to 3-0 in North Georgia Middle School Athletic League play.

North Whitfield starter Eli Turso struck out five and allowed one hit in five innings pitched, while Will Douglas earned a save while striking out four in two innings.

At the plate for the Pioneers, Landon Eaton and Donavon Sims each had three hits, with Eaton also driving in a run.

Westside girls 2, Christian Heritage 2: Christian Heritage trailed twice against the visiting Lady Rockets but got goals from Elizabeth Ramirez and Kylie Crabtree to finish Tuesday’s match tied.

• Dalton’s boys and girls squads split with Rome on Tuesday, with the Cougars losing 4-2 but the Lady Cougars winning 7-0.

In the girls match, singles winners were Shurbi Bhatter, Abby Dyer, Sloan Hungerpiller, Alexis Lynch and Sophia Shepherd. Doubles winners were the team of Sadie Cowan and Grace Plott and the team of AnnaBelle Brewster and Ansley Keylon.

In the boys match, Dalton’s wins came from Charlie Aldermanin in singles and Jackson Adams and Jackson Stevenson in doubles.
