Local pair wins flight in Georgia Four-Ball Tournament

Kyle Pettyjohn of Dalton and Chris Tallent of Rocky Face finished at the top of the leaderboard Sunday in the second flight of the Georgia Four-Ball Tournament.

The tournament, a Georgia State Golf Association event, was shortened from 54 holes and three rounds ro a two-round, 36-hole event due to inclement weather Friday and the threat on Saturday.

Competition took place at Albany’s Stonebridge Golf and Country Club (championship through third flights) and Doublegate Country Club (fourth through seventh flights).

After shooting a 3-over-par 75 in the opening round, Pettyjohn and Tallent shot 1-under Sunday and won their flight by two strokes at 146. Also in the flight were Calhoun’s Greg Brock and Falton’s Howell Kerr, and the pair tied for seventh at 152.

In fourth-flight competition, Smyrna’s Cal Patterson and Dalton’s Tony Patterson finished fourth at 150. In fifth-flight competition, Dalton’s Dwight Hefner and Duane McMullen finished fourth at 147.
