Prep roundup: Lady Raiders softball rolls past Dalton

Volleyball

• Southeast lost 25-18, 22-25, 25-20 to Gilmer but rebounded to beat Coahulla Creek 25-17, 25-12 in a home tri-match.

Yasmeen Paloblanco finished the night with 19 digs for the Lady Raiders (6-5), Rana Mashburn had 15 and Melisa Fraire added 12. Other standout contributors for the Lady Raiders were Angie Purkey (30 assists); Wendy Perez (13 kills, five blocks); Yolanda Melgarejo (12 kills); Serena Ramsey (10 kills); and Gaby Gonzalez (nine kills).

• North Murray lost 14-25, 25-22, 15-9 to Cherokee but beat host Woodland-Bartow, 25-15, 25-10.

In the win for the Lady Mountaineers (12-10), Hannah Long had four aces and Grace Phillips tallied five kills. In the loss, Harmony Jones recorded six aces.

• Northwest lost 26-24, 25-18 to Heritage-Catoosa and 25-21, 25-10 to host Gordon Lee.

Mary Kate Allen led the Lady Bruins (7-3) with 12 kills and seven blocks, while Peyton Maret tallied seven kills and two blocks, Whitley Brooker had 18 assists and Madelyn Logan chipped in five digs.

• Christian Heritage dropped a best-of-five match in non-area competition at Sonoraville, falling 25-9, 25-21, 25-15.

Savannah Roberson’s 12-kill effort led the Lady Lions (7-2), while Brenna Mugge chipped in 12 digs, Jessica Seehorn had eight kills and Emie Blaylock recorded four aces.

    Dalton’s Mitchell Boggs has signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants, according to baseballamerica.com. Contract information, along with which minor league affiliate Boggs, a pitcher, will start with, was not available in the report, and Boggs was not listed on any of the online rosters for any of the Giants’ minor league affiliates.
