Middle School Roundup: Dalton off to 1-0 start

CLEMSON, S.C. — Dalton Middle School’s eighth-grade football team opened its season with a 46-12 victory over host Jasper on Thursday.

The Cougars, who allowed just one first down during the opening half, got touchdowns from Noah Bartoo, Aaron Fraire, Cade Gabriel, Caleb Ramsey, Chandler Starks and J.P. Tighe. Bartoo, Gabriel, Ramsey and Damontae Haynes also had two-point conversions.

• Dalton’s seventh-grade team made it a sweep of Jasper with a 20-0 victory, with Ivan Mora recovering a pair of fumbles and Jorge Salacies returning a fumble 60 yards to the end zone to lead the Cougars in the season-opening win.

Sam Carlson also recovered a fumble, while Henry Hansen picked off a pass. Tyis Love added a 4-yard touchdown run, Amir El Ameen had a 3-yard touchdown run and Drew Greeson passed to Carlson for a two-point conversion.
