Northwest Whitfield, Southeast Whifield freshman squads win

Northwest Whitfield High School’s freshman football team beat North Murray 22-0 on Monday at Mountaineer Stadium in Chatsworth.

Jay Jones scored on a 45-yard touchdown pass by Pax-ton Pardee, Will Blanchard added a 6-yard touchdown run and Tanner Boyd had a 3-yard touchdown run for the Bruins (2-1-2).

Pardee also ran for a two-point conversion and completed a pass to Noah Conry for another two-point conversion. Boyd and Jones also each picked off a pass.

North Murray did not report individual statistics by The Daily Citizen’s deadline.

• Cody Gillean accounted for three touchdowns and ran for a two-point conversion as Southeast Whitfield’s freshman football team topped visiting Pickens 28-22.

Gillean had scoring runs of 5 and 7 yards while also completing a 50-yard touchdown pass to Brady Foster.

Caleb McAtee added a 12-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion run for the Raiders (3-2-1), while Nathan Hasty had an interception and Joseph Yanez recovered a fumble.
