Back-to-Back State Champs!

Northwest beats Heritage for another title

The Northwest Whitfield High School softball team didn't win the Region 7-4A title, but they like state titles more anyway.

The Lady Bruins lost to region rival Heritage-Catoosa 6-4 on Saturday in the Class 4A state tournament at South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, but Northwest exploded for 12 runs in a 12-6 victory in the second game in the double-elimination tournament.

The victory gives the Lady Bruins their second straight state title. Read Sunday's The Daily Citizen for complete details.
