Dalton water polo earns split on road

— The Dalton boys water polo club split a pair of matches Sunday at the Mountain View Aquatic Center in Cobb County, beating Cambridge 12-0 and losing 16-8 to Collins Hill.

Dalton, which competes in the Georgia High School Water Polo Association but is not associated with a single area high school, is 5-7 for the season.

In Dalton’s win, Taylor Mathis had five goals, Luis Rosales and Alan Trejo each scored twice and Jacob Brown, Seth Gabriel and Alex Woods each added one goal. In goal, Sean Lee recorded eight saves and Josh Satterfield made six. Dalton won all four sprints in the match, with Ethan Young taking two, Mathis taking one and Sam Reeves getting the other.

In Dalton’s loss, Mathis had seven goals — he also won three of four sprints — and Rosales notched the other. Satterfield had eight saves and Lee had one.

Dalton returns to action Sept. 22 with another two matches at Mountain View Aquatic Center, taking on Lakeside and the War Eagles.
