Maggie Linder led the way with 11 points and six rebounds as New Hope Middle School's eighth-grade girls basketball team rolled to a 44-18 season-opening victory against visiting Dalton on Thursday.
Rylee Maret and Holly Heath each added seven points, with Maret also pulling down six rebounds.
It was also the season opener for Dalton, which did not submit eighth-grade statistics by The Daily Citizen’s deadline.
• Dalton seventh-grade girls 29, New Hope 23: In another season-opening matchup for both teams Thursday at New Hope, McCall Maret’s 10-point performance paced the Lady Cougars to victory.
Lauren Parker added seven for Dalton, while New Hope was led by Sydney Horne — she had 13 points, six rebounds and four steals — and Alaina Thompson, who chipped in seven points for the Lady Kodiaks.
Area middle school results are published on Mondays and Thursdays in The Daily Citizen.
