Chad Brewer new coach for Indians football

Chad Brewer has been hired as football coach at Murray County High School.

Brewer, who currently teaches and coaches at Northwest Whitfield High School, spent several years at Southeast Whitfield High School before moving to Northwest prior to the 2012-13 school year. He was the Bruins’ defensive coordinator this past season and is currently coaching the boys track and field team.

According to a press release from Murray County High School athletic director Greg Linder, Brewer was approved by the Murray County school board as a teacher for next school year. His hire as coach was determined by an interview committee of five members — the release did not specify who the members were — who reviewed applications, determined the top candidates for initial interviews and conducted interviews.

The three finalists — the release did not name the other finalists — were brought back for a more in-depth interview and an on-campus visit this past week. The committee then selected Brewer for the coaching position.

Check back later for updates and see Tuesday’s edition of The Daily Citizen for a full report.
