Time to enter state junior golf tournaments

MARIETTA — Entries are now being accepted for the 47th annual Georgia Junior Championship, which takes place June 18-20 at Doublegate Country Club in Albany.

This Georgia State Golf Association event is open to male amateur golfers ages 14-17. Competitors must be at least 14 as of June 18 and not be 18 as of June 20. The format is 54 holes of stroke play, with the 144-player field cut to the low 70 and ties after 36 holes.

The top eight finishers are invited to represent the state in the annual Georgia-South Carolina Junior Challenge Match.

Entries are also being accepted for the 33rd annual Georgia Girls Championship, set for June 18-20 at Legacy on Lanier at Lake Lanier Islands.

This GSGA event is open to female amateur golfers ages 9-17. Competitors must be at least 9 as of June 18 and not be 18 as of June 20. The format is 54 holes of stroke play for the championship division and 18 holes (nine holes per day over two days) for the tournament division.

The top four finishers in the championship division will be invited to represent the state in the annual Georgia-South Carolina Girls Junior Challenge Match.

Players must enter online at gsga.org by clicking the online registration quick link. The deadline for entry into both events is May 30.
