ROME — Emily Jennette, Georgia’s 2008 Teacher of the Year, will visit Berry College on Tuesday, March 25, as a guest of the Charter School of Education and Human Sciences and the college chapter of Kappa Delta Pi. Her presentation, titled “Mentoring, Coaching and Collaboration: Finding a Harmonious Balance,” is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the science auditorium; admission is free and open to the public. A teacher in the Marietta (Ga.) City Schools since 2000, Jennette is now the second-grade team leader at Sawyer Road Elementary School, where she serves as school council secretary, parent involvement and community outreach chair, and second-grade drama director. Her memberships include the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the International Reading Association and the Georgia Partnership for Excellence. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree from Kennesaw State University.
In her speech, Jennette will share personal teaching experiences and address how to nurture educators for the long haul while providing effective professional development that focuses on renewing and strengthening a teacher’s sense of purpose.
