State agency updates environmental regulations

ATLANTA — The Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission is hosting a meeting in Atlanta to discuss updated regulations meant to protect soil and water near urban development sites.

The list of regulations, called the “Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control in Georgia” will be the topic of discussion at the commission’s meeting at the Courtyard Atlanta Executive Park Monday afternoon.

Officials say they’re presenting changes to the manual to the public, and explaining new procedures for accepting new practices. The commission has held similar meetings in Columbus, Cartersville and Savannah.
