As of 9 a.m. less than 100 NGEMC customers are without power following Monday's thunderstorms. Strong winds caused numerous trees to fall, taking down many spans of wire and damaging electrical poles throughout NGEMC’s seven-county service area. Today’s remaining outages are concentrated in the Chattooga County area.
At the peak of the storm approximately 4,000 members lost power. Crews worked throughout the night and restored power to all but approximately 500 members as of 6 a.m. this morning.
Officials anticipate power will be restored in all areas by the end of the day. Restoration efforts do move more slowly toward the end of the process as much work may need to be done in order to restore power to only a few members. Crews will continue to work until all power is restored.
