A man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of armed robbery and aggravated assault in an attack that nearly killed a store owner in 2012.
Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds said 20-year-old Tomas Lopez Torres Jr. was given the sentence at a court hearing late Friday.
Reynolds said Torres’ crime spree nearly killed Doug Haddon, the owner of the Hock Shop pawn shop in the community just northwest of Atlanta.
Prosecutors say Torres ambushed Haddon from behind and stabbed him twice, once across the abdomen and once in the hip, on April 14, 2012.
Torres pleaded guilty to the attack on Haddon plus armed robberies against seven people at two small shops and a convenience store in Marietta in 2012.
