Police: Shooting victim arrested on drug charges

ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta police say a shooting victim is facing drug charges after marijuana was found while he was being treated at a hospital.

Police spokesman John Chafee says 36-year-old Murjani Yearwood was found outside a business about 4 a.m. Sunday. He had been shot once in a leg and twice in the chest.

Police say Yearwood was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where a small bag of marijuana was found while he was being treated.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Yearwood is now charged with drug possession.

Police say Yearwood wasn’t cooperating with officers, and they couldn’t find any witnesses willing to talk about the shooting.
