GRAYSON — Gwinnett County police say a man accused of causing a fatal crash while he was trying to take off his jacket behind the wheel has been booked into the county jail.

Cpl. Jake Smith told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/19Eek6T) 21-year-old Thomas Embry was distracted while he was driving a Ford F-150 Friday night and crossed the center line before hitting another car head-on.

Police say U’Lawnda Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene and her son was hospitalized with a laceration to his head.

According to jail records, Embry is charged with vehicular homicide, failure to maintain lane, distracted driving, reckless conduct and not wearing a seatbelt. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
