Long, Douglas

Lillian Lyda Long and John Michael Douglas were united in marriage June 11, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Dalton. The 7:00 p.m. ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Dr. Russell Michael Shealy.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her family. She wore a strapless a-line gown of net and French Chantilly lace by Melissa Sweet. The bodice was pleated net with lace trim along the sweetheart neckline and a silk satin belt with a double bow centered at the waistline. The sunburst pleated skirt was created with delicate tiers ending in beautiful scalloped Chantilly lace. The bride carried a romantic bouquet of her favorite flowers, gardenias and white peonies, sprinkled with a profusion of lilies-of-the-valley, all gently tied together with antique satin ribbons.

The fitted bodice attached at the natural waistline to the soft flowing knee-length skirt. Hydrangeas, dusty miller, lisianthus, freesia, grape hyacinths and roses from garden to spray varieties combined to create pastel bouquets for the attendants.
