Murray County boys fall against region opponent

Murray County’s boys basketball team started slow and couldn’t come back in a 61-27 loss at Pepperell on Thursday.

The Indians (1-12, 1-5 Region 7-2A) had a rough shooting night, especially in the first quarter, and trailed 23-6 when the first quarter ended.

“Midway through the first quarter, even though we had missed a lot of shots, we were in the game,” Murray County coach Greg Linder said. “But we had too many turnovers.”

The Indians hung with their opponents in the second quarter and trailed 31-13 at halftime. The third quarter was worse, as Pepperell held a 47-22 lead entering the final period.

“The lead just slowly grew throughout,” Linder said.

Cesar Romero led Murray County with 11 points.
